The core (main partners) of SINCHEM is formed from seven highly-qualified academic Institutions, ranging from Universities to Polytechnic and Ecole Supérieure in order to have a good mixing between fundamental and applied research. The number of partners has been selected to have a compromise between need of enough expertise and multidisciplinary cooperation in this broad field of sustainable industrial chemistry, and a manageable size of the consortium. All partners have dedicated administrative staff to provide services to international students and the Consortium coordinator (Bologna University) has experience with four other EMJDs and several EM masters.
UNIVERSITY OF BOLOGNA ALMA MATER STUDIORUM (ITALY) . Programme Coordinator
The University of Bologna, is one of the most important institutions of higher education across Europe with more than 90.000 enrolled students, 3200 academics and 3000 administrative staff located in a Multicampus structure. Unibo offers a vast array of programmes, both at the first, second and third cycle of studies and is fully committed to the implementation of the Bologna process action lines. Internationalization, both for teaching and research is one of the political priorities of the University of Bologna, which is today the most internationalized of all the Italian universities. Unibo results respectively the first and the fourth European university according the numbers of outgoing and incoming students participating in the Erasmus programme and it is largely involved in International programme design.
The R&D activity on the development of Sustainable Industrial Processes for chemistry is mainly performed at the laboratories of Industrial Chemistry Department .

UNIVERSITY OF MESSINA (ITALY)
The University of Messina has an old dated cultural and educational tradition. It is one o the three main Universities of the Island Sicily with more than 35000 enrolled student.
SINCHEM related activities are carried out at the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Materials Engineering. The Laboratory of Catalysis for Sustainable Production and Energy (CASPE) is an associated centre of the University of this Department and INSTM (Consortium for the Science and Technology of Materials). The laboratory has participated to over 16 EU projects in the past, coordinating also nearly half of them. The scientific staff is constituted by about 20 researchers. The activities of the laboratory focus on the development of novel catalytic technologies for environment protection, and sustainable energy and processes. Over 70% of the studies are made in close collaborations with companies.

University of Nottingham (uk)
The University of Nottingham is a research-led university that has consistently ranked among the top 10 UK Universities in all the major league tables. The Universities support infrastructure is extensive with both a Graduate School and a specific staff education & development unit offering a wide range of professional development activities and complementary skills training to all postgraduate students. A dedicated International office meets the needs of all international and visiting researchers through both support activities and the fostering and supporting partnership development including successful joint postgraduate, as well as undergraduate programmes. The Graduate School provides a world-class research training and development environment to train PhD students and runs events to encourage a vibrant postgraduate community.
Sustainable Industrial Chemistry related R&D activities are carried out in the School of Chemistry. In particular, in the Polymers and Supercritial Fluids research group and in the clean Technology Group.

ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE DE CHIMIE DE MONTPELLIER (FRANCE)
The Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM, National Graduate School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) is a public specialised institution for chemical studies and research which graduates every year about 100 chemical engineers. Its staff of 88 researchers and teachers and about 80 PhD students are supported by European, national and industrial grants. Their four main research areas are: (a) a chemical approach to nanosciences, providing synthetic tools to all other research areas; (b) green chemistry for sustainable development, including ecological synthesis processes, valorisation of renewable resources as materials and fuels, pollution control systems; (c) elaboration of materials with specific functions, spanning from catalysts to materials able to reduce energy demand; (d) chemistry for healthcare and agriculture, with special emphasis on molecular chemistry and vectors for biological targets.
SINCHEM R&D activities are carried out at the Institute Charles Gerhardt of Molecular Chemistry and Materials. In particular, in the Renewable Ressources to Materials and Molecules research group.

RWTH AACHEN UNIVERSITY (GERMANY)
RWTH Aachen University is the largest university of technology in Germany and one of the most renowned technical universities in Europe. It currently has around 31400 enrolled students. Every year, a large number of international students and scientists come to the University to benefit from its high-quality study programmes and excellent facilities, both of which are internationally recognized. Research activities in sustainable chemistry are promoted and coordinated by the Institute for Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry (ITMC) aims at the development of fundamental scientific knowledge and know-how for applied chemistry and the education of students in the area of sustainable catalytic synthesis.
